Did you know we are available for speaking engagements? We always enjoy getting the opportunity to talk to others about what we do, and to do what we can to clear up myths about our profession. We can also speak about any real estate appraisal topic that you would like, just let us know.
This week, we visited ERS Rocklin to talk about some common misconceptions about appraisals, and to answer any questions about appraisals and the appraisal profession in general. We also talked about the difference between doing assignments for the secondary market (appraisals for Fannie and Freddie Loans) and private appraisals, where USPAP , is our only concern. Special thanks to Amy Rivers for having us out! We had a great time, and can't wait for our next one!
It is interesting to me that in the Real Estate Industry, which is one of the biggest providers of jobs, goods and services in our economy, that there is often a disconnect between those who value Real Estate and those who sell Real Estate and by implication, those who buy Real Estate (aka homeowners). This need not be so! This is why we spend our time, energy and resources on communication and training. Appraisers ARE allowed to talk to Realtors, and completely maintain appraiser independence.
